Accessible, sustainable, and dynamic
Zuid-Limburg Bereikbaar's goal is to improve access to and within the region and promote sustainable mobility. The programme office was set up in 2010 with the aim of discouraging people from driving, especially for their commute. Large infrastructural projects such as the new traffic system with a two-story tunnel for A2 Maastricht and a new route for the Noorderbrug bridge were the reason for this.
The implementation programme now includes sustainable mobility alongside its original focus areas of accessibility and traffic flows. In this way, we’re helping to improve liveability and ensure healthier living and working conditions. The programme office's activities are financed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat), the Province of Limburg, the Municipality of Maastricht, and forty large employers in South Limburg.
Zuid-Limburg Bereikbaar operates according to its own ten-step plan. Step by step, we support commuters through their journey from their first trial to purchasing an alternative to their car. We also give them tips on how to drive more economically.
