The Zuid-Limburg Bereikbaar Programme Office works with governments and organizations on themes concerning Mobility and Logistics. We believe that sustainable solutions can be identified and ramped up more quickly through intensive collaboration. That’s why we started working together with a large number of Maastricht-based companies and organizations in 2010. Is your company looking for collaboration to increase the reach of creative solutions? Or are you looking to expand the reach of your sustainable ambitions? Then we would love to embark on that journey together. Examples include continuing theTalking Trafficproject and rolling outMobility as a Service. Both projects are part of the digitalization task we are working on, including in South Limburg.
Talking Traffic and smart traffic control equipment
We are working on the Talking Traffic project together with the Municipality of Maastricht and the Province of Limburg to convert the current traffic control equipment into extra-smart traffic control equipment. The new smart traffic control equipment not only sends data to vehicles and bicycles but can also receive data from road users and respond accordingly. This makes waiting for the light to turn green when there’s no traffic in sight a thing of the past.
Mobility as a Service (MaaS) transport user app: Glimble by Arriva
The Province of Limburg is working together with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and Zuid-Limburg Bereikbaar on the main goal of making travelling easier in one single app, so as to encourage sustainable mobility for public transport users and employers. The option to plan, book, and pay for cross-border journeys as well is important for Limburg as a border province. Arriva’s Glimble app means transport users in Limburg can plan, book, and pay for their door-to-door journey by public transport, private transport, and shared transport in Limburg, the Netherlands, and even from and to Belgium and Germany.

MobiliteitsArena at Limburg Leads 2021
Climate change and the coronavirus pandemic are changing how we think about commuting, business travel, and logistics. We are working from home more and performing more tasks online. Offices are being repurposed, and we’re also rethinking our understanding of public spaces. Quality of life has moved up the list of priorities. We’re making new choices and taking a holistic approach to economic vitality and a healthy environment – there are so many ways to make mobility smarter, more sustainable, and more economical. We demonstrated this to companies, employers, authorities, and interest groups during the MobiliteitsArena (Mobility Arena) at Limburg Leads. This networking fair was organized by MECC Maastricht on 20 and 21 October 2021.
