The largest infrastructure project within the Province of Limburg is the construction of a ring road around the Parkstad city region. This ring road will pass through the municipalities of Brunssum, Heerlen, Kerkrade, Landgraaf, Nuth, Onderbanken, and Schinnen.
A large number of parties are involved in this large-scale project. The outer ring road will be constructed with a clear aim: significantly improving the accessibility of and within the Parkstad region. Furthermore, the outer ring road will also provide a good connection to national and international roads. This will relieve traffic pressure on existing roads that cross through residential areas while also improving liveability. Additionally, the new road will offer many opportunities for economic and touristic developments while improving the traffic safety in the area.
